118 In order to provide a safe, healthy, long-lasting swimming pool area and to maintain structural integrity, it is necessary to perform the application stages carefully and carefully. Here are the stages and application instructions that are generally followed in the pool construction process: 1. Project and Planning Phase •Needs Analysis: The type of pool to be built should be determined (swimming pool, decorative pool, children’s pool, etc.). Parameters such as the size, shape and depth of the pool should be planned. • Ground and Climate Condition Assessment : The ground of the area where the pool will be built should be examined. Factors such as the bearing capacity of the soil structure and groundwater levels should be taken into consideration. In addition, climatic conditions and environmental factors should also be taken into consideration. •Permits and Licenses: Necessary construction permits must be obtained from local authorities and legislation and regulations regarding pool construction must be complied with. •Design and Detailing: Technical drawings and structural plans of the pool should be created. At this stage, elements such as the pool’s filtration system, water heating system, drainage and electrical connections are also designed. 2. Excavation and Foundation Laying • Site Preparation: The area where the pool will be built is cleaned, excess soil and stones are removed. Ground leveling is done. •Excavation Operations: Excavation is done according to the shape and depth of the pool. At this stage, creating a smooth ground is a step that should be considered for easy drainage of water. • Drainage System: In areas where the groundwater level is high, a drainage line should be installed around the pool and puddles should be prevented. 3. Construction with Concrete and Building Materials •Iron Reinforcement: Iron reinforcement is placed to increase the durability of the pool. According to the reinforcement plan, the required amount of iron is used in the foundation and walls. •Concrete Pouring: Concrete is poured for floors and walls. The concrete is reinforced with reinforcements placed before it is poured into the mold. •Shaping the Pool: If a special shape or design is desired, the desired geometry of the pool is obtained by using molds. 4. Waterproofing • Bottom Surface Preparation: For a good swimming pool insulation, sub-surface preparation should be done first. The better the sub-surface preparation, the better the insulation and pool tile application will be realized at the desired level and maximum performance. For this reason, segregations and mold defects formed while dismantling the pool molds must be repaired with R3 and R4 class structural repair tools and the surface must be made smooth and as smooth as possible. In addition, pipe penetrations, projector slots and drains must be repaired with suitable mounting mortars and insulation application must be started. •Insulation Application: After the correct surface preparation is done, insulation application should be started as the second stage. In insulation application, a few important points should be taken into consideration. It is important to ensure that the bevel band and the net to be applied to the surface are resistant to alkali and that the insulation material used is cement-based and fully elastic. The insulation created with these materials appears as a system and should be implemented as follows; •The bevel tape is applied to the corners and fixed nicely. After fixing, the first layer of insulation is applied to the surface. •In the first layer of insulation, the mesh is laid while the material is still wet and then the second layer of insulation is applied. It is important to wait 5-6 hours between the first and second coat of insulation to ensure complete drying. Application Instruction for Correct Pool Construction
