121 9. Joint Application • Application Time: Grout can be applied after the adhesive of the tiles has completely dried (usually 24 hours). Joint mortar between tiles carefully placed in the gaps. • Grout Distribution: Place the joint into the joint gaps between the tiles with a rubber trowel or spatula. The joints should be compacted until the material is completely embedded. • Joint Gap Amount: 3 mm joint gap in rectified tiles to allow movement of the tile, 5 mm joint gap in non-rectified products space must be left. • Material Selection and Joint Application: It should be noted that the material to be used is a flex joint filling material. Flex joint sealant should be mixed with the appropriate water ratio and allowed to sit for a while. The reason for waiting is that the pigments in mix and react with each other. Otherwise, the pigments in it will not explode, this time there may be different color fluctuations on the surface. After waiting, it should be mixed a second time and joint should be applied. • Joint Drying Time: Joint mortar usually dries within 24 hours after application. The floor should not be stepped on during this period. •Joint Cleaning: After applying the joint, excess material should be removed. Remove excess joint with a wet sponge or cloth without damaging the surface of the tiles. The joint should be smooth and homogeneous between the tiles. After the necessary cleaning process, joint application should be completed with silicone sealant in expansion joints and corners. • Alignment and Joint Control: After all tiles have been installed and jointing is complete, check the evenness and alignment of the entire installation.
